The Animal Control Officer (ACO) is Dillon Rosa. You can contact Animal Control at 231-723-3170, or report animal complaints to Manistee County Central Dispatch at 231-723-6241.
Dillon Rosa joins us as our new deputy in charge of the Sheriff’s Animal Control Division. Rosa is a ten-year U.S. Coast Guard Veteran and former Benzie County Animal Control Officer. He brings many years of law enforcement experience and a passion for the position to the Sheriff’s Office.

Protect the health, safety, and welfare of citizens and animals in Manistee County
Enforce State Laws and Local Ordinances pertaining to animal control
Minimize danger and nuisances caused by irresponsible pet ownership
Protect pets from abuse, neglect, and homelessness
Provide temporary housing and care of homeless animals
Coordinate adoptions with Homeward Bound Animal Shelter
Provide "humane" euthanasia when necessary
Please note that ACO does not handle non-domesticated animals such as deer, raccoons, skunks or any other such animals. Contact your local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for complaints of that nature.
Licensing Information & Fees
All dogs 4 months of age or older must be licensed and have a current rabies vaccination. Tags must be kept on the dog. Licenses are available at the Manistee County Treasurer’s Office or the Humane Society. Please contact either office directly for details.
