Manistee County Jail E-mail

The core mission of the Manistee County Jail is to provide safety and security to the residents of Manistee County.  It is also our duty to protect detainees and preserve their rights and safety while incarcerated.  Like all jails, we have a diverse population that varies in age, gender, legal status, escape risk, and length of stay.  All of these factors present a unique challenge to our Jail Staff.  There work is a critical part of the criminal justice system.  The entire staff serves us well.

 Jail History

The Manistee County Jail was constructed in 1989 and built to house 32 inmates. Due to the increasing need for detainee housing an addition was added in 1998 bringing the current capacity to 52 inmates. The staff of the Manistee County Jail is committed to maintaining the safety and the security of the facility for the citizens of Manistee County, while striving to reach the highest level of professionalism. Therefore, any questions, comments and concerns are welcomed.
